5.0 out of 5 stars amazing book

I’ve always said I’m not a fan of horror—whether it’s in books or on screen—but my very good friend Anthony Hedger has changed that with his gripping horror series, The Silver Bow.
From the very first chapter of Book 1, I was completely hooked. It’s thrilling, intense, and genuinely chilling in all the right ways. The story pulls you in until you feel like you’re right there with the characters, especially Bruce Skinner, whose journey is filled with suspense, danger, and unexpected twists. The battle between good and evil is compelling, and the tension never lets up.
I never thought I’d enjoy a horror novel, let alone love one—but I absolutely did. Now I can’t wait to dive into Book 2, especially with Bruce still facing so much danger from the dark forces that surround him.
If you’re looking for a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, give The Silver Bow a try. I promise—you won’t be disappointed.

Not normally one for horror books but I must say when reading The Silver Bow: Book One really has opened my eyes to the Horror genre!
It’s a fast paced, real page turner (read on the kindle app so a tablet scroller?) where you really get to know the characters quickly and with a real sense of danger lurking around the corner made it a no-brainer to read Book Two.
Overall without giving away any spoilers if you like novels that feature good vs evil, back stories that leave the reader wanting more than this is right up your street!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Silver Bow Book One

The Silver Bow Part One marks an ambitious debut that pulls no punches when it comes to suspense and creeping dread. Anthony Hedger introduces a haunting setting and a cast of characters who feel just a little too close to home—making the horror hit all the harder.
There’s a raw intensity to this book that horror fans will appreciate. It’s atmospheric, moody, and isn’t afraid to explore the darker edges of the human psyche. While it’s a first novel and has that gritty, unfiltered feel of an author finding his footing, it sets the stage for something deeper to come.
If you like your horror unsettling and character-driven, this is a great place to start.

Anthony Hedger’s *The Silver Bow* is nothing short of a gripping masterpiece—a debut horror novel that probes the very essence of human agency and dives into the darker recesses of the human spirit. This story doesn’t just ask the big questions about free will, morality, and the cycles of dysfunction—it wrestles with them in a hauntingly vivid and intensely thought-provoking way.
At the novel’s core stands Bruce Skinner, a protagonist so richly drawn and compelling that you’ll find yourself rooting for him at every turn. Bruce is the epitome of resilience, a man who refuses to let the scars of his tumultuous upbringing define his future. Whether he’s performing death-defying stunts or contending with malevolent forces seeking to derail his life, his strength and integrity make him a hero worth following.
The character dynamics in *The Silver Bow* are equally captivating. Nick Pendry, a foil to Bruce, takes an unsettling path to darkness, exploring the repercussions of trauma in the most sinister of ways. And then there’s the Devil himself—manifesting as a decrepit figure yet radiating an unnerving charisma—whose wicked schemes add layers of tension and dread to the story.
What truly sets this novel apart is its exploration of family. Hedger skilfully unpacks the concept of familial bonds, highlighting both their inherent beauty and their potential to entangle and harm. This thematic richness adds emotional depth to a novel already brimming with suspense, tragedy, and even moments of levity.
Hedger’s narrative soars as it traverses European landscapes and English locales, building toward a climactic showdown that will have readers on the edge of their seats. The blend of horror, philosophy, and humanity makes *The Silver Bow* a thought-provoking and unforgettable read.
Whether you’re drawn to the psychological complexity of the characters, the chilling horror elements, or the profound philosophical undertones, this book has something to offer. An absolute must-read for fans of the genre—and for anyone who appreciates a story that lingers in the mind long after the final page is turned.

5.0 out of 5 stars The world is scarier than you think

I have to say that this two-volume novel, "The Silver Bow" by Anthony Hedger, is really a terrific story. Read both volumes --- it is necessary and it is worth it. I am not going to explain the story because it has a number of important surprises in it, and to explain the story would spoil the surprises. It is not an easy story because it forces the reader to look Evil itself in the face. One sees how Evil can and does manipulate people who are not themselves evil, but who can be led to serve Evil without their even realising it, until they are in it too deep to pull themselves out.
It is, of course, a horror story. One of the horrors, for me while reading it, was the realisation I had that I know (or in other cases knew) people just like some of the characters, who made the same mistakes with their own bad results. The author shows his mastery as a writer of horror stories when the reader says to himself, "You know --- this could even be true!"
"The Silver Bow" gives me a lot to think about. It is a novel, but it is serious and the world it describes is as real as the one you live in without being particularly aware of it, right now. It is NOT for the faint-of-heart; but, if you have the guts to face it, I recommend it.

Having read Series 1 of The Silver Bow by Anthony Hedger, I couldn’t wait to dive into Series 2 — and it did not disappoint. From the very first page, I was completely enthralled. The story continues with incredible energy and momentum, pulling you in so deeply that it’s hard to believe it’s just a novel.
The sense of realism is chilling; it feels as though you’re living every moment alongside Bruce, the main character, as he faces one challenge after another in his quest to help his friends. Evil lurks around every corner, making this a truly gripping, blood-thirsty story that’s definitely not for the faint-hearted.
A fantastic continuation of an extraordinary series — horrifying, captivating, and utterly immersive. I can’t wait to read Series 3, the thrilling finale of The Silver Bow by Anthony Hedger.

Anthony Hedger's *The Silver Bow: Book 2* is a thrilling, edge-of-your-seat sequel that not only matches the brilliance of its predecessor but elevates the series to extraordinary heights. A true tour de force in psychological horror, this novel weaves themes of adolescence, destiny, and the ultimate battle between good and evil into a story that is as deeply unsettling as it is profoundly moving.
The setting of Cornwall, rugged and atmospheric, becomes a character in its own right, mirroring the chaos brewing within Jo as she nears her fateful 16th birthday. Hedger masterfully blends the beauty of the landscape with an undercurrent of creeping dread, crafting a backdrop that amplifies every twist and turn of the plot.
Jo herself is a heroine for the ages—a richly complex character whose journey of self-discovery and defiance is as inspiring as it is harrowing. Her struggle to preserve her sanity and soul while confronting an unholy destiny makes for a deeply emotional and suspenseful narrative. Through her, Hedger explores universal questions of identity, resilience, and the power of choice, keeping the reader invested in her plight at every step.
The introduction of *The Silver Bow*, a divine weapon forged to defeat the Devil, raises the stakes to an exhilarating high. It serves as both a symbol of hope and an instrument of justice, anchoring the story in its epic confrontation with ultimate darkness. The climactic showdown is a masterclass in tension and terror, leaving readers breathless and desperate for more.
Hedger’s signature blend of spine-chilling horror and dark humour continues to shine in this second instalment. The novel balances moments of levity with scenes of unrelenting suspense, ensuring an engaging and dynamic read. It is a story that will grip you by the heart and mind, making you ponder the nature of evil, the endurance of the human spirit, and the power of family and faith.
*The Silver Bow: Book 2* is an unmissable sequel that cements Hedger’s reputation as a master storyteller. Whether you’re a fan of psychological thrillers, horror, or character-driven narratives, this book delivers on every front. Prepare yourself for a chilling yet unforgettable ride into the depths of human courage and the shadows of unspeakable evil.

The Silver Bow Part Two picks up right where Part One left off, pulling the reader straight back into its dark, unsettling world without missing a beat. What stands out here is how much the storytelling has matured—there’s a stronger sense of pace, structure, and control, all while maintaining that eerie tension fans of the first book will recognize.
The writing is more confident, the atmosphere more immersive, and the psychological edge even sharper. It’s the kind of horror that doesn’t just shock—it lingers.
If you’ve read Part One, this continuation delivers exactly what you’re hoping for—and then some.

Recently completed Book 2 and I must say that I was really impressed by how quickly I was engrossed in the novel. You are rooting for the hero (Bruce) and everything he has to do to save those close to him, almost cheering him on to survive by all that’s thrown to him.
Obviously need to read Book 1 first as it sets the story up nicely for the reader to continue the horrors in book 2 but I give it 5 Stars and cannot wait for the third instalment in the trilogy?

This is the thrilling finale to Series 1 and 2—and what a finale it is! Gripping, terrifying, and filled with moments of pure horror, The Silver Bow Series 3 will have you questioning what’s real… and what isn’t.
Bruce Skinner and his daughter Jo find themselves in mortal danger as they face a darkness beyond comprehension. ND’s evil is so deep and disturbing that it feels impossible for anyone to escape his clutches.
The story builds to a brilliant and haunting conclusion that perfectly caps off this harrowing journey. I was completely drawn in—at times, it felt so real I could almost feel myself there.
If you love horror that chills you to the core, The Silver Bow Series 3 will not disappoint.

This can be read as a stand-alone book but highly recommend that you do read 1+2 first as it will give the reader an insight into each of the lead characters and how the plot connects them all and into the storyline.
Overall a great read and will be looking out for future releases from the author!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Besides Himself, Who Is the Devil Really Working For?
Reviewed in Germany on 31 July 2025
This is the third and final volume of Anthony Hedger's "The Silver Bow", and I have to say that it is a terrific conclusion to a terrific story. To say that it gives the reader a lot to think about is the kind of understatement that even a British diplomat in Brussels could be proud of.
I strongly recommend reading all three volumes of "The Silver Bow" in the order in which they were written, to really understand the entire scenario, and to know what it means. It is worth it. In every volume the reader has to look Evil square in the face, and one sees how awful it is, in itself; but in this third volume, one sees something of how it fits into the big picture of Creation. That, for me, was the big "take away" from this third and final volume of "The Silver Bow". It is not easy; but if it were easy, then anybody could do it. These three volumes have made it clear to me that Anthony Hedger is not just anybody.
In summary, "The Silver Bow" gives the reader a lot to think about. It is a three-volume novel, but although it is fiction it is serious and the world it describes is as real as the one you live in without being particularly aware of it, right now. It is NOT for the faint-of-heart; but, if you have the guts to face it, it is worth facing.
